Do you make comics? Do you want to make comics? Then you should read This Is Everything I Know by C. Spike Trotman. It is the truth.
Kickstarting soon!
If everything goes well, the Clockwork Game Kickstarter should start on Monday.
Advance Reading Copy
My advance reading copy of Clockwork Game is here! This is a single, print-on-demand edition I had printed through Lulu.com so that I can check the art for obvious errors. The final product will be a little smaller, with an 8 x 10″ trim size. Getting so excited!
Thanks, kind fans
Special thanks go out to whoever’s been updating the Clockwork Game page over on TVTropes.com. It’s super accurate and current up to today’s date.
I also got a sweet postcard in the mail the other week that touched my heart. It’s on the fridge now.
The series has such a small readership that I’m always really touched when I see evidence that people are still reading. Thanks, kind fans! It means a lot.
Nightmare in Silver
Though I haven’t seen it, I hear from my readers that this season’s penultimate episode of Doctor Who, written by Neil Gaiman, features a chess-playing cyberman with a secret inside. Maybe this will be my excuse to finally get into the series.
Oh God, so true
Johnny Wander tells the truth about inking. Such horrible truth.
My Boyfriend is a Monster
It’s been a long while in the making, but I’m excited to finally announce that I’ve got a couple of pages in a brand new book, My Boyfriend Is a Monster: He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not, part of a series published by Lerner’s Graphic Universe Imprint! The story is a retelling of Jekyll and Hyde by writer Robin Mayhall, and I’m in really good company with three other talented artists: Kristen Cella, Dirk Tiede, and Jen Manley Lee. You can pick up copies through your local comics store, Powells, or Amazon.
How not to write comics criticism
Have you read this essay by Dylan Meconis? If not, you really should, because it’s brilliant. I foresee myself linking to it many, many times.
HOT/COLD – Exhibit Opening at Headspace Gallery
The Headspace Gallery HOT/COLD opening is tonight! Head on down to Green Brain Comics and see some art by Suzanne Baumann, Alice Meichi Li, Katie Cook, my old college buddy T. S. Lamb. Oh yeah, and me, too!
You can also check out the Facebook Page.
Shieldmaiden of Rohan
So I kinda went berserk for Hallowe’en this year. It was a lot of fun. I got to live out a lifelong dream and go as Éowyn, Shieldmaiden of Rohan.
I took these photos this Saturday at the Nature center:
Today, at the company Halloween party (yes, I wore 25 pounds of real steel chainmail, along with a mix of real leather, pleather, and cardboard armor for a full twelve hours at the office) I killed the Witch King. There was a soundtrack. And a smoke machine. I love my job.
And then me and the Witch King made up over drinks.
And then I went out and found something I’d always been searching for:
