Having just completed the paints on my seventh page this month, it is hereby time to celebrate. I was hoping I’d get four pages done, what with the holidays and all, but heavens to Betsy, I’ve nearly doubled that. My thumbnails indicate I’ve got another six pages to go in the narrative, minus the pickup scene. Good Lord… I might … Read More
Moving towards the oncoming light, praying it’s not a train…
I plotted out the last of the book last night. I think I have maybe another 15 pages to go chronologically, and then I have to go back and add one scene to the middle of the book that I’ve been putting off, waiting for a source to get back to me. There are a couple other pages and panels … Read More
Brushy Love
I had to order a couple things from Dick Blick last night (shut up. the last art supply house in town died an unhappy death two years ago. It’s either that or brave the hell of Hobby Lobby and their sanctimonous uberChristian propaganda.) and so I did a quick scan through the site to see if there was anything else … Read More
I keep forgetting to post this!
Neil Kleid posted this really thoughtful, wonderful interview with me on Newsarama. You should totally go read it.
Hmm.
Got two of the four Troublesome Pages (there were two at last post; now there are four, though some or all may be cut during final editing…) pencilled and inked since Sunday night. This may prove a bit easier than I’d reckoned. The other two are going to be an exercise in making talking heads interesting.
Page Rate

I have one more page pencilled, and two more yet to do. These last two are going to be pulling teeth; difficult, pivotal for expression and nuance of … Read More
Work continues apace
Yes, yes, I’m sure you’re all good and tired of hearing me say “New book soon. Soon, I promise.” Believe me, I’m sick of it too. I’m so sick of saying it that I’m going to bag going to Motor City entirely this year just so that I can stay home and work on the book. Man, am I ready … Read More
Pencil pencil
Twelve completed pencils. Eleven completed inks. Gonna sit on the last page before inking, think about it a while. Two more, maybe three more ‘pickup’ pages to pencil before this set is done. that means I’m going to go back and flesh out one character’s history with another page of exposition, and give another some qualms about an action, the … Read More
Love to paint them mousies…
So I did a Mouse Guard pinup a while ago, with the intention of surprising David with it at Wizard World Chicago. As you may have read, all hell broke loose and, though Paul did a bangup job of computer coloring it so that David could see what I had in mind, I hadn’t had a chance to get back … Read More
Don’t call him Skippy. Only I get to do that.
A couple weeks back, I also finished the pinup of Scipio from Templar Arizona: Hot. Tay. Spike’s posted him in the Templar gallery with her commentary, here.
